This winter has been long. And considering there is still snow on the ground here, it's not gotten the message that it's almost fucking April and it needs to GTFO. Seriously. Right now my kids are outside in snow boots and gloves drawing with sidewalk chalk and playing with Hot Wheels cars. My husband has the grill fired up. Why? Because, sweet candy-coated Jesus, we are so sick of winter.
On top of that, we've all just been a bit stressed lately. The cold weather has only exacerbated it. The day job has gotten extra day-jobby. The weather sucks. Even our friends sick and tired of being sick and tired.
In short, we all need a break.
So this Thursday, the husband and I will be sending the kids to spend a couple days at their grandparents' while we venture up to Indy for our yearly Indy Comic Con adventure. I think the last time I was looking forward to something this much was my honeymoon.
Indy Con is one of my favorite events of the year. We meet up with our friends for day of con shenanigans and cosplay (this year I'm going as Frodo Baggins) followed by a night of drinking and eating food that is really, really bad for us.
The next day we meet up with our kids and take them to the con so they can see all the cosplayers and exhibits and then we head home.
It's a fun, carefree, extended weekend.
And I seriously cannot wait.
